Rhomboid Pain

Rhomboid Pain
Pain between the shoulder blades caused by strain or irritation of the rhomboid muscles. Common with poor posture, overuse, or sudden movements.

Symptoms:

  • Deep ache or sharp pain

  • Tightness in upper back

  • Worse with arm movement or twisting

  • Tender to touch

Less Common (Nerve-Related):

  • Sharp, burning pain

  • Tingling, numbness, or weakness in the arm.

Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome

GTPS causes pain on the outer hip, centered over the greater trochanter. It’s common in middle-aged women and runners.

Causes:

  • Gluteus medius/minimus tendinopathy or tears

  • Trochanteric bursitis

  • IT band tightness

  • Poor hip or back biomechanics

Symptoms:

  • Outer hip pain, worse with lying on the side, walking, stairs, or standing

  • Tenderness over the trochanter

  • Stiffness after rest

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Caused by pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow (“funny bone”).

Symptoms:

  • Numbness/tingling in ring and little fingers

  • Weak grip, poor finger coordination

  • Inner elbow pain, worse with prolonged bending

Causes:

  • Repetitive elbow bending or pressure

  • Past injury or arthritis

Common Peroneal Nerve Syndrome

Compression of the peroneal nerve near the knee, affecting the lower leg and foot.

Symptoms:

  • Foot drop, steppage gait

  • Numbness on outer leg/top of foot

  • Weak foot/toe lifting

Causes:

  • Compression at fibular head

  • Trauma, leg crossing, tight boots

  • Surgery or rapid weight loss

"Frozone" Shoulder Pain

A nickname for shoulder pain that feels cold, sharp, or stiff — like being frozen.

Possible Causes:

  • Cold/numbness: Pinched nerve or poor circulation

  • Sharp pain: Rotator cuff injury, impingement, or bursitis

  • Stiffness: Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)

Piriformis Syndrome

Piriformis muscle compresses the sciatic nerve, causing sciatica-like pain.

Symptoms:

  • Buttock pain radiating down the leg

  • Worse with sitting, stairs, or activity

  • Tingling or numbness in the leg

Causes:

  • Muscle spasm, overuse, or trauma

  • Inflammation or nerve pathway variation

  • Herniated disc, spinal stenosis

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Degenerative disc disease

  • Spondylolisthesis

  • Gentle stretching

  • Avoid sitting too long

  • OTC pain meds

Cervical Radiculopathy

Nerve compression in the neck causing pain or numbness down the arm.

Symptoms:

  • Neck, shoulder, arm, or hand pain

  • Numbness, tingling, weakness

  • Follows specific nerve root patterns (C5–C8)

Causes:

  • Herniated disc, bone spurs, stenosis, injury

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Compression of nerves or blood vessels between the collarbone and first rib.

Types:

  • Neurogenic: Numbness, weak grip, arm/shoulder pain

  • Venous: Arm swelling, blue tint, heaviness

  • Arterial: Cold, pale hands, weak pulse

Causes:
Repetitive use, trauma, poor posture, extra rib, pregnancy

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Compression of the median nerve in the wrist causes pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand.

Treatment:
Wrist splints, physical therapy, or surgery

Cervical Radiculopathy

Compression of the ulnar nerve causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the forearm, ring, and little fingers.

Severe cases:
Hand weakness and muscle loss

Peripheral Neuropathy

Damage to peripheral nerves causes pain, numbness, weakness, or dysfunction in the limbs and organs.

Symptoms:

  • Pain, tingling in hands/feet

  • Digestive issues, dizziness, sweating changes

  • Bladder, bowel, or sexual dysfunction
